Serial EdTech entrepreneur and our founder, Jordan Levy, has been committed to expanding experiential learning within the higher education ecosystem since he graduated from Lehigh in 2014. CapSource was birthed as a way to provide administration and faculty with more flexibility and customizability when it came to integrating companies directly into the curriculum through hands-on collaborations.
Testing the Model with Early Adopters
Educators are an innovative bunch! CapSource’s first client, Fordham University, needed help sourcing companies and designing projects for their MBA Capstone course. Throughout that engagement, CapSource learned more about the process of integrating companies into the curriculum through experiential learning collabroations.
Defined Engagement Formats & Launched Platform
Throughout 2018, CapSource focused on positioning the company for growth. Since launching, we have reached 13 schools and over 1,000 students leveraging 42 company partners. CapSource decided to concretely define (and productize) the experiential learning formats we were implementing into four categories: Live Business Cases, Capstone Projects, Co-Ops, and Site Visits. This made the process of matchmaking much easier and much more plug-and-play for both companies and educators interested in engaging with each other through experiential learning.
CapSource also introduced V1 of their new platform, which is an ecosystem that makes the process of finding companies and designing projects with real host companies easier for educators than ever before.
Refining & Scaling
Our team is growing and things are getting exciting! CapSource’s goal for 2019 is to scale the business with repeat customers while refining our process and products in order to ensure even better outcomes for all parties involved. We also plan to invest into building out new features for our various stakeholders on our software platform in order to enhance the matchmaking process. We also look forward to adding many new host company and universities partners to our network!
Online Marketplace Connecting Higher-Ed with Industry Partners
We want to bridge the skills gap between higher-ed and the professional work environment by making experiential learning easy. Our mission is to make highly engaging learning experiences more attainable for students and educators while making it more scalable for institutions and companies than ever before. CapSource adds a crucial layer as an intermediary between higher-ed and industry, focusing on instructional design and productizing and standardizing different parts of the experiential learning process like customizable engagement formats and project scopes.
We strongly believe students need several opportunities throughout any degree program to put their knowledge and skills to work. We’re excited to make project-based experiential learning with real companies more accessible and effective through our platform with the help of innovative faculty and companies. The Smith School at the University of Maryland uses CapSource for help with company sourcing and project design. We used their projects in our MBA Consulting course; we were immersed in a real world environment where we were challenged with real company problems and required to provide viable, thought-out solutions. This was quite an exciting project for our team at HUNGRY. It’s always great to hear insights from young, creative students. Since we were running three projects with the same course at once, it was great to see how the teams were able to build off of each other in order to deliver great results. By communicating primarily with the professor, we were able to keep our commitment down to a minimum while really providing these students with a compelling way to learn
Experiential learning is especially critical for business programs since blending theory and practice allows the students to build their confidence as they prepare for their professional careers. CapSource provides us with access to companies we would otherwise not be able to work with. They make it easy to identify the right organizations for every course given the overall structure, desired rigor, and teaching objectives.
